What We Do

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a form of physical therapy that works with your body to remove the interreferences causing pain and discomfort symptoms. It focuses on the relationship between structure (spine & joints) and function (as co-ordinated by the nervous system) and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health. Think of Chiropractic as a gentle nudge to recuperate the body’s natural ability to heal itself- without the use of drugs or surgery.

Can I Benefit From Chiropractic?

Chiropractic care is suitable for people of all ages and at all stages of life from newborns to the elderly, from pregnant women to fast growing adolescents.

Anyone who experiences the following can benefit from care:

  • Headaches/Migraines
  • Neck Pain
  • Low Back Pain
  • Disc Injuries and Sciatica
  • Joint Pain
  • Sports injuries
  • Poor Posture

Our Approach To Your Care

Every case is assessed individually on your first visit with a thorough history and examination to find the source of your problem. At The Spine & Soft Tissue Clinic we don’t believe in band-aid fixes, we believe in finding the problem and working with you to solve it. Our Chiro’s work closely with other health specialists to ensure you get the best care and achieve the best results. X-rays may be necessary, but we will take care of that for you and can arrange other imaging via your general practitioner.

Each of our practitioners uses a variety of techniques including but not limited to:

  • Manual adjustments (spinal manipulation)
  • Low Force techniques such as- Drop table, Blocking and Activator
  • Sacro-Occipito Technique (SOT)- specialist low force adjusting technique
  • Soft Tissue Therapy

  • Ultrasound
  • LLLT (low level laser therapy)

Dr Sherrie is also qualified in Dry Needling.

Chiropractic and babies

One of our passions when it comes to Chiropractic is adjusting babies and small children.

However when we say that we adjust babies we get so many questions! “How?” “Why?” “Is it safe?”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The answer to how is we adjust them is gently! You use more pressure to check the ripeness of a tomato then what we use when adjusting a baby. When you know what you are doing babies are so easy to adjust, and getting them adjustments is so safe!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Why we adjust babies is the more important question to answer. The biggest physical stress most of us will ever go through is birth. Think about if you had to squeeze through a small hole after spending 9 months couped up in a nice squishy home. The fact that we can adjust a baby with such little touch is proof of why a baby would need to be checked right after birth. An adjustment ensures that babies have the best functioning nervous system possible. A proper functioning nervous system enables your baby to grow, develop, eat, sleep, and poop as best as possible!

We live our life through our nervous system. We don’t eat, breathe, sleep, grow, learn or develop without its direction. Adjusting a little one may help them to do all of that to the very best of their ability.

Drs Sherrie and Dr Lauren have completed post graduate training in Chiropractic paediatrics and have clinical experience with babies and small children- plus they are both mums!

Chiropractic and Pregnancy

Pregnancy is one of the most exciting times for a woman and it is our pleasure to work with so many pregnant women!

As your body goes through pregnancy it goes through significant structural and hormonal changes within the short time span of nine months. Therefore, it is not uncommon to experience aches and pains along with general feelings of discomfort. Throughout this time many women turn to gentle Chiropractic care to help them get through this period.

Chiropractic care during pregnancy does more than just help relieve aches and pains. Our main goal for any pregnant mum is to encourage optimal spinal health as well as balance out the pelvis. This is important throughout pregnancy to give your baby enough room to move around as well as helping your body cope with carrying your baby. Having a well-balanced pelvis is also important when it comes to birth as it allows your pelvic outlet to be at its full width giving your baby the most room in the birthing canal.

Why would you use Chiropractic during your pregnancy?

There are many reasons why women all around the world utilise Chiropractic throughout their pregnancy journey.

Let’s take a look at just SOME of the reasons:

  • Chiropractic can help reduce low back pain and neck pain
  • It can reduce aches and pains in other areas of your body
  • It can help with pregnancy related issues such as pubic dysfunction
  • It helps to bring balance to the Nervous system which can help your body deal with the changes that pregnancy brings

We use gentle specific adjustments when treating pregnant women and treatment is tailored to what stage of pregnancy you are in.

Animal Chiropractic

Dr Sherrie Lee also provides animal Chiropractic Care.
Want to know if your animal is in its best shape?
Some obvious signs of pain in dogs include aggressiveness, growling, yelping and limping, but some of the less obvious signs come from noticing if the dog has slowed down, is sleeping more, has less energy, joint licking and trembles.
When it comes to horses: girth aversion, uneven gait, messy transitions, unusual biting and kicking behaviour, and inability to halt square are just some indicators that your horse may need some ‘hands on help’.
Animal chiropractic uses gentle manipulations of the joints and muscles to help improve the biomechanics of the animal, reduce tension and in turn decrease pain enabling better functionality. Dr Sherrie has done her post graduate training in Animal Biomechanical Medicine.

** We also work with Medicare, TAC, WorkCover and other health specialists to ensure you (and your animals) are receiving the best and most up to date care, relevant to you and your families needs.
